What is Blitz CrossFit?

Blitz CrossFit aims to be the most effective gym in the area for getting people fit. Through our years in the fitness industry we’ve found that CrossFit is the best way of achieving this.

Using CrossFit, we help you set your fitness goals, we guide you towards them and we make sure that it’s enjoyable, even when it’s tough. Whatever your age, ability or current fitness level come and experience a fitness program with a difference. Every session you attend will be coached to ensure you get the most out of your time. Ask as many questions as you can.

Blitz CrossFit, Twickenham and Richmond Borough’s first CrossFit gym, is run by two CrossFit coaches, Tim and Ben.

Our main focus is CrossFit – offering you ‘general physical preparedness’.

Whether you want to be fit for fun, for health, to feel good or to compete, we want ALL our members to be confident and capable of taking on the range of challenges that are thrown at them. So the majority of our classes are CrossFit. But we know that you also want to be able to focus on certain areas, to combat weakness or lack of experience or to take you out of your comfort zone. So we offer 3 different scales of the same workout and also a variety of classes that enable you to focus on particular skills.

LEVELS

When you come to class you will notice we have created different levels. These levels are not primarily focused on strength but on MOVEMENT. The focus of our coaching is to get you to develop competency in a movement, then show consistency and, finally, add intensity.

1. Fitness: this level is for those who want to have fun with CrossFit: you could be new to the movements and starting the learning process; or maybe you’re not too fussed about the technical lifts and just want to have a good workout. Once you’ve completed our initial Foundations course you’ll start here.

2. Performance 1: this level develops all the gymnastic skills and weightlifting aspects to your program, refining technique and improving ‘performance,’ whether you’re training for a sport or looking to compete at CrossFit in the future. To qualify for this level you will have to have undertaken our  barbell basics course

3. Performance 2: this is for those who want CrossFit to be their sport of choice and are able to not only master some of the high level movements but also to incorporate them in workouts.

Classes

CrossFit: you get the widest range of challenges in this class. After all, if we took an element out it wouldn’t be CrossFit! This is the focus of Blitz CrossFit and the majority of classes you’ll find at the box.

The other classes are designed to help improve specific skills to increase your gains at CrossFit

Conditioning: we have taken the barbells out of this class! The focus is on improving stamina and cardiovascular conditioning – it’s going to be blowy! But don’t be fooled, it will increase your muscular endurance (stamina), subsequently decreasing your Fran* time!

Gymnastics Skills and Gymnastics Club: want to be a ninja at controlling your body? Run by Tristan, our resident gymnastics coach. This is where you can learn the essentials of controlling your body to enhance your ability at CrossFit to the more technical skills like muscle-ups, levers and free standing handstand push ups. Barbell Basics: so you want to lift something heavy? Guess what? We’re not interested how strong you are! We want you to be able to move external objects with agility, flexibility, balance, co-ordination and accuracy. Only then can speed and power be developed,to maximise your potential. Brute strength can only take you so far! Join this class to learn the movements and refine your technique before getting involved with the Barbell Club and/or the performance levels in the CrossFit classes

Barbell Club:  if you have mastered the movement patterns then this is for you. Competence is needed before joining this class. Your strength is not relevant – it’s your ability to move that counts. The club is run by Jamie: he’ll let you know if you have what it takes.

Skill focus: high rep gymnastics movements like kipping pull-ups, toes to bar, rope climbs   and handstand push ups take skill as well as strength. We’ll teach you to develop both.

Track sessions: BOOM!! Time to run. Whether you’re a resident endurance junkie or you just want to be able to run 400m without feeling your lungs are on fire, we’ll teach you how to run as well as developing your conditioning giving you a chance to run life time PBs!
